BENEFITS OF CIRCUMCISION
- Reduced Risk of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs):Circumcision can lower the chance of contracting STDs, including HIV, by up to 60%. Since HIV has no cure and is very dangerous, circumcision can help protect against it and other STDs.
- Lower Risk of Cervical Cancer for Your Partner: Women with uncircumcised partners are at a higher risk of developing cervical cancer. Circumcision helps reduce this risk.
- Personal Preference: bSome women prefer circumcised men for personal reasons. This is just a matter of choice and varies from person to person.
- Reduced Risk of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Circumcised men and boys are less likely to get urinary tract infections compared to those who are uncircumcised.
- Better Genital Hygiene: Circumcision makes it easier to keep the penis clean since there’s no foreskin where dirt and bacteria can accumulate. This reduces the risk of bacterial and fungal infections.
- Improved Hygiene for Your Partner: A circumcised penis is easier to clean, reducing the risk of passing on infections to your partner
Why is Circumcision Necessary?
There are many benefits to circumcision surgery:
- 1. Easier Hygiene: Circumcision makes it easier to keep the penis clean. Boys with uncircumcised penises can still learn to clean under the foreskin regularly.
- 2. Lower Risk of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): UTIs are more common in uncircumcised males. Serious infections early in life can lead to kidney issues later on.
- 3.Lower Risk of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Circumcised men may have a lower risk of certain STIs, including HIV. However, safe sex practices are still important.
- 4.Prevention of Penile Problems: In some cases, the foreskin can be hard to retract (phimosis), leading to irritation and swelling of the foreskin or penis.
- 5. Lower Risk of Penile Cancer: While rare, penile cancer is less common in circumcised men. Circumcision may also reduce the risk of cervical cancer in female partners.
- According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 39% of men globally have issues like redundant prepuce or phimosis:
- Redundant Prepuce: Foreskin is too long, the foreskin covers the whole glans penis in the relaxed.
- Phimosis: The foreskin covers the whole glans penis, and the foreskin mouth is narrow, foreskin can not up and down, may occurs adhesion.
- 1.Redundant Prepuce: The foreskin is too long, covering the entire penis head when relaxed.
- 2.Phimosis: The foreskin is tight and cannot be pulled back, sometimes causing adhesions.
- Potential issues include:
- 1. Redundant foreskin can slow penis growth and may lead to a condition called micropenis.
- 2. It increases the risk of urinary problems, infections, and inflammation like balanitis, which can lead to sexual dysfunction.
- 3.Bacteria trapped under the foreskin can increase the risk of cancer and conditions like prostatitis, infertility, and ejaculation problems.
- 4.It can also cause female health issues like cervical inflammation and vaginitis, affecting sexual health and quality of life.
